My latest poem was inspired by seeing sunflowers in the autumn in London SE1. I love these magnificent flowers, standing so tall and providing such a rich food source for the bees.
Sunflowers, why do I love you?
For so many reasons.
Such as the fact that,
Long after all your
Perennial, pollinating peers
Have gone to sleep
At the end of summer,
You stay standing,
Proud,
And tall,
Reaching up to the sky
And blessing us with your elegance
And your bright yellow petals.
As if it really wasn't The end of summer at all.
